Product information
Experience the richness of traditional cooking with Paruppu Chatti, designed to bring out the authenticity and traditional way in your cooking. Crafted from 100% natural Terracotta clay, it is perfect for slow-cooked curries, single-serve dishes, and Paruppu sambar. The porous nature of the clay ensures that the heat circulates evenly and the moisture balance on its point. This natural property not just enhances the flavour and aroma of your food, but also provides it with essential nutrients like iron, calcium and magnesium from the clay. It can also be used to store water to keep it cool naturally without refrigeration. With its multiple uses, convenience, and health benefits, this is a must-have addition to every kitchen.
Seasoning clay cookware: Day 1-3: Starch Water Soak Prepare starch water: Use the leftover water from boiling rice or any starchy food. Fill the pot: Pour the starch water inside the clay cookware and let it soak for 3 days. This helps seal the pores of the pot. Day 4-6: Boiling Water at Low Heat Low heat usage: After the starch water has been discarded, fill the pot with water. Boil water at 30% flame: Slowly boil the water for about 15-20 minutes on low heat for the next 3 days. This further strengthens the clay and prepares it for cooking. Day 7-9: Steaming Food Steam food: You can now steam simple food items like vegetables or rice for the next 3 days. Gradually increase usage: After this, your clay cookware is fully seasoned and ready for regular cooking. This process helps prolong the life of your clay cookware and ensures it cooks evenly.
It is selected for material honesty, everyday usefulness and its connection to South Indian home craft.

How to clean the kadai: 1. After every use, wash the lamp using mild soap and warm water, or by using salt or ash and a scouring pad. 2. Use no harsh detergents/soaps as it can only damage the porous surface. 3. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before packing away.
